The City of Cheyenne Office of Youth Alternatives has announced that it received two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) donated by Mended Hearts, Inc., Hearts Afire Chapter #132, Wakeup to Health, Cheyenne Regional Heart & Vascular Institute, and the Cheyenne Regional Foundation.

Sudden cardiac arrests can occur in any public place, and having an AED on-site can be the difference between life and death. The donation to Youth Alternatives means the office is now another place where AEDs are present in the event of an emergency.

“We’re extremely grateful for the donation and we appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this effort to make a difference in the community,” Youth Alternatives Director Jay Sullivan said.

Mended Hearts Inc, Wakeup to Health, the Cheyenne Regional Heart & Vascular Institute, and the Cheyenne Regional Foundation have been assisting getting AEDs into public areas by providing AEDs to many of Cheyenne’s non-profit agencies at no charge. Due to these efforts, a total of 21 units have been placed throughout the area to date.
