Danielle Kramer, owner of Zola Salon, is the winner of the Downtown Development Authority’s (DDA) Season’s Greetings Window Display Contest and will receive $500 for having the most festive holiday lighting display in the DDA district.

“We’re so excited to win this, it’s a really nice bragging right,” said Kramer, who opened her salon in July. “I really have to give credit to all of my girls; they really did all the hard work. We were here from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. one day working on these windows. And we are going to share equally in this prize.”

Virginia Brinkerhoff, owner of Just Dandy, was chosen as runner-up and will receive $250.

Twenty-eight businesses participated in this year’s contest. Downtown visitors could vote for their favorite displays either in stores or by scanning a QR Code to vote online. The final tally was 797 in-store ballots and 437 online votes.

Firefighters from Cheyenne Fire and Rescue’s Station 1 on 19th Street then chose the winners from the five merchants who received the most votes.

“As firefighters, we take great pride in our community,” said Cheynne Fire Department Battalion Chief Don Wood. “It is great to see the pride that businesses downtown also take in their community and bringing joy and Christmas spirit to all.”

The Top 5 businesses were:

  • Zola Salon, 1819 Carey Ave.
  • Just Dandy, 212 W. 17th St.
  • Avalon Hair Salon, 107 W. 17th St.
  • Collector’s Hub, 312 W. 17th St.
  • Silly Bear Academy, 117 W. 5th St.

The public is encouraged to visit downtown, view all the holiday light displays, and shop locally for those last-minute holiday gifts.
