The City of Cheyenne has received an unmodified ("clean") audit opinion, which is the highest level of assurance, on its financial statements for fiscal year 2024. This marks another year of strong financial management by the City.

The results of the independent audit were discussed at a City Council work session on Jan. 10.  Stephanie Pickering, partner at MHP, LLP, who presented the report, stated that there were no findings on either the financial statements or the federal awards portion of the audit. The City undergoes a single audit each year, which must be done for any non-federal entity that spends more than $750,000 in federal funding in one year. She also noted that no deficiencies in internal controls were found.

"The results of this audit show we continue to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars and it reflects the expertise of our staff and their dedication to Cheyenne,” Mayor Patrick Collins said.

The clean audit opinion for fiscal year 2024 underscores the City of Cheyenne's ongoing commitment to transparent and accountable financial practices and ensuring the responsible use of public funds.
