City accepting applications for several boards and commissions

The City of Cheyenne is seeking applications to fill terms and upcoming vacancies on four different boards and commissions: the Mayor’s Council for People with Disabilities, the Board of Adjustment, the Police Civil Service Commission, and the Building Code Board of Appeals.

Mayor’s Council for People with Disabilities

Two positions are open on the Mayor’s Council for People with Disabilities with one term expiring Dec. 31, 2025, and the other expiring Dec. 31, 2026.

The Mayor's Council for People with Disabilities serves as an advisory board to the Mayor's Office, the Governing Body and Cheyenne City staff on the problems and concerns of persons with a disability as they relate to activities of daily living, including accessibility, recreation, commerce, employment, transportation and self-advocacy. The MCPD meets monthly.

Board of Adjustment

One position is open on the Board of Adjustment with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2026.

The Board of Adjustment is responsible for appeals and quasi-judicial decisions under the zoning regulations. The board has the authority to review and make the final decision on zoning variances, conditional use approvals, and appeals of administrative decisions. Additionally, the Board has the authority to hear appeals and affirm, modify, or overrule the final decision on site plans, temporary use approvals, administrative use approvals, and administrative adjustments. The Board of Adjustment meets once per month.

Police Civil Service Commission

One position will be open on the Police Civil Service Commission for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2025.

The board administers rules and regulations for the Cheyenne Police Department Civil Service Commission and meets annually in January and on an as-needed basis.

Building Code Board of Appeals

One position will be open on the Building Code Board of Appeals for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2025.

The board hears and rules on appeals of an aggrieved party from decisions of the Building Official, the Historic Preservation Board, and other proceedings as provided by City Code in order to determine the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction, and to provide for reasonable interpretations of Building and Technical Codes adopted by the City.
