Capitol Ave. Bronze Project to be Announced at Oct. 4 Press Conference

CHEYENNE – Capitol Avenue links two of Cheyenne’s most prominent landmarks with the Historic Depot to the south and the Wyoming Capitol Building to the north.

Soon enough the Capitol Avenue Bronze Project will connect these historic buildings with a multi-generational legacy that pays tribute to the pioneering spirit of the people of Cheyenne and Wyoming.

At 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 4th, Mayor Patrick Collins will hold a press conference to announce the Capitol Avenue Bronze Project with Harvey Deselms of Deselms Fine Art and Nathaniel Trelease, Chair of the Capitol Avenue Bronze Commission and entrepreneur and investor. The press conference will be held at the northwest corner of Capitol Ave. and W. 21st St. (near the Joseph C. O’Mahoney Federal Center Building).

The Capitol Avenue Bronze Project is an idea more than a decade in development, and when implemented, will endure for many decades to come. Originally conceived by Harvey Deselms, a Cheyenne gallerist and lifelong advocate of art in public places, the project will place a bronze statue on every corner of Capitol Avenue from the remodeled Union Pacific Train Depot on Lincolnway up to the Wyoming Capitol building -- 28 statues in total. The statues will feature western figures, people and wildlife, scenes from everyday life; all of which honorably represent the experience of Cheyenne, Wyoming and its people. 

Each statue will be made possible through private donations. Individuals serving on the project’s commission board are:
