The City is working to implement a new licensing & permitting platform for individual & company contractors. The new process will be 100% online. It'll allow individuals to apply, renew, & pay for licenses from home and/or work. CHEYENNE – Join the Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board and the City of Cheyenne Planning and Development Department to celebrate Spring and the Airport Fountain at their Fountain Fire-Up event. The Board will give a history of the fountain and acknowledge the parties that have contributed to the restoration before turning on the water for the first time this Spring.
The beautiful marbled terracotta of the airport fountain has been deteriorating for many decades due to Cheyenne’s weather and improper maintenance. In 2009, the Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board decided to restore the fountain to its former glory, hoping to bring a forgotten icon in the City of Cheyenne back to life. Phase I of the fountain restoration has been completed, adding new tiles in the lower bowl, and making the water feature operational. The Board will be using this event to kick off Phase II, which will restore the remaining terracotta tiles. The restoration will benefit generations to come, reminding old and newcomers alike of Cheyenne’s proud aviation history.
The event will be held at the Airport Fountain at the intersection of E. 8th Ave. and Warren Ave. from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22nd. Attendees can park at the parking lot adjacent to the fountain on E. 8th Ave. between the old airport terminal and the airport office building. We urge attendees to be careful crossing the street to the airport terminal as it can be a busy intersection. The event will also be posted on the Board’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cheyenne.historicpreservation/.
