The City of Cheyenne will host an open house next week for residents to provide feedback on the future of the new Rotary Park.

Those who attend will be able to review two master plan concepts for the 12-acre park, which is located southeast of Mylar Park along Dry Creek just west of Powderhouse Road.

The open house will be Tuesday, July 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Coyote Ridge Elementary School (5515 Powderhouse Road).

Feedback at the open house will be incorporated into the final master plan for Rotary Park.

Overarching goals for Rotary Park include:

  • Open Space: Preserve the open space by enhancing the natural environment using low-water species and low maintenance vegetation.
  • Gather: Provide a destination for people to gather and support community events.
  • Play: Introduce play elements to activate the park – the master plan explores traditional play equipment as well as nature play.
  • Stormwater Management: Improve water quality for the community by increasing water storage and enhancing water filtration along the Powderhouse corridor drainage. This will result in improved life safety during major flooding events along Dry Creek.
  • Learn: Celebrate the history of the site and acknowledge the Cheyenne Rotary Club’s involvement in creating this new park. Additional educational components include environmental and flood control benefits of the park and environmental education.

Rotary Park will be Cheyenne’s newest park and is possible thanks to a donation from the Cheyenne Rotary Club Foundation earlier this year.
