FAQs

Do I need to be going to work?

Nope! We recognize not everyone is working during the event hours. As long as you're using a bike, trike, or similar form of transportation to get around on Bike to Work Day, you can participate!

Is there a cost?

There is no cost to participate in Bike to Work Day or to attend the after work event.

Why is Bike to Work Day in June?

Bike to Work Day can be traced back to the 1950s, when the League of American Bicyclists organized the first such event. Nationally, Bike to Work Day is held in May, but in Wyoming and Colorado, Bike to Work Day is celebrated on the last Wednesday in June of each year.

I'd like to participate, but I live too far from work to bike the entire way.

You can still participate! A couple ideas:

  • Bring your bike with you and bike from work to breakfast stations or the after work event, or
  • Park at a Greenway trailhead and bike the remainder of the way to work or your final destination.

The point is to get out and enjoy Cheyenne on two wheels, regardless of your starting and ending point.

I'd like to host a breakfast station. What do I need to do?

Businesses and organizations that wish to hold breakfast stations are welcome to participate and be listed on the Bike to Work Day website.

Those that wish to host should plan on providing free breakfast or similar food items to Bike to Work Day participants. Breakfast stations must be staffed and in a publicly-accessible location.

Per Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department regulations, prepackaged items may be given away without a food service permit. Hot prepared food may require a permit if your business does not have one already. The Environmental Health Division of the Health Department can answer any questions at 307-633-4090.

To register your business or organization, contact Matt Murphy at mmurphy@cheyennecity.org and include your business/organization name, address, and your planned hours of operation (suggested times are 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.).
